Hello, I’m Matt. I’m a UI/UX Designer from Portsmouth, NH.
Throughout this site, you'll find examples of my work and learn about the process I use when approaching design and user experience challenges. Please take a look and get in touch. I look forward to hearing from you!
How we approach and nurture that need is what makes user-focused design so appealing and important. The best approach that I have found is based on IDEO’s Human-Centered Design and Lean UX Design process. This 6-step process uses research and user interactions to support design decisions and integrations. A face-to-face interaction with the people we are trying to help connects us to a world of information that we would otherwise assume. Why assume when we can ask?
Visual Design
Setting the Stage
Wireframes
Testing ideas and structures are a pivotal part of the design process. They are the blueprint for the full experience and allow us to explore solutions without committing fully to any one idea. Sometimes, a wireframe can end up being a fully thought out framework that just needs a bit of styling.
Prototyping
Prototyping comes in all shapes and sizes. From sketches on a napkin or whiteboard, large paper cut-outs, low fidelity mockups, or even high fidelity, clickable and responsive wireframes. Whichever way the ideas are presented, they should quickly and directly address the problem and provide clear solutions.
User Testing
data-based design
In this example below, you can see the steps taken to achieve a design that was centered around user feedback and data analytics. Multiple rounds of testing and information gathering helped me provide a new website design that met the user’s needs and main objective for visiting the website.
Existing Design
To fully understand the user's needs and objectives, the existing UI/UX was measured through user testing and data collection.
Blue Sky Design
Based on testing feedback and data analysis, a blue sky (no restraints) design was created. More tests were held to ensure the user's problems were being solved.
Implemented Design
Working with development and business teams, an initial design was implemented that meets the user's most important needs as quickly as possible.
